Al Quoz Pond Park in Dubai UAE
Al Quoz Pond Park is a Park in Meydan Road Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Al Quoz pond park has shaded walkways, jogging tracks, children’s play grounds
If you’re looking for somewhere quiet to spend the day with your family, but still somewhere that offers plenty to keep you all entertained, Al Quoz Pond Park is sure to fit the bill. One of the newer parks in Dubai .
it’s located out on the way to Meydan in a quiet location behind Al Quoz residential area. The park is known for its sports grounds, including softball pitches complete with batting cages and spectator bleachers, as well as the soft-surface tarmac running track around the perimeter.
It even has gym equipment strategically located around the track, with handy directions attached to make sure you’re using it properly! Plenty of shaded, manicured grassy areas offer the ideal environment to sit and while away the hours with a book, while the large pond in the middle – home to resident wading birds – provides a refreshing change from Dubai’s desert surroundings.
Of course, the park has plenty of shaded play areas for the smaller members of your party to enjoy, with swings, slides and climbing frames galore. If you’re visiting the park over mealtimes you’ll be best to bring a picnic and set up camp on a shady hill.
The location of this park seems a little odd, wedged in the corner where two roads meet. A sign at the entrance reads ‘families and residents only’, but it’s hard to know which residents. Nevertheless, you’ll still find plenty of families with kids, joggers and the like.
Facilities: Adequate parking, playgrounds, a cushioned running track that skirts the park’s pond as well as some basic exercise equipment.
USP: This park is still relatively quiet (possibly due to the fact that there’s no signage, and the entrance creeps up on the highway without warning!). Its shaded grassy areas offer the perfect place to get stuck into a book. Next to the park you’ll also find three manicured softball pitches for kids.
Size of park: 127,000 sq m, 45,000 sq m of which is taken up by the pond.
Best for: Families looking to enjoy some quiet time or couples searching for some reprieve from the kid-plagued parks in the city.
Shops or kiosks: There’s little in the way of food stalls, so bring a packed lunch or picnic.
Don’t miss: The bouncy jogging track dotted with gym equipment (there are even directions to teach you how to use each machine), kids’ playground and the softball pitches complete with batting cages and spectator bleachers.
Toilets: Yes, including a water fountain offering free drinking water
Nature hunt: Stalk-like birds mill about in the pond, and weeping willow-style trees hang over hilly nooks, shading the area beautifully.
Ticket: Free
