From 2003, XVA has pioneered contemporary Middle Eastern art in Dubai. It is now one of the foremost contemporary art galleries in the Middle East.
Somewhere in Bastakia’s scattered alleyways, enter XVA Gallery through a small wooden door. Save the well-stocked gift shop for last and continue into the shady courtyard, framed on four sides with two stories-worth of interconnecting art spaces.
The mainly local art ranges from the inspired to the less amazing, but it’s a worthwhile experience. Aiming to foster an art community in Dubai, the XVA has a pleasant café and hosts film screenings in the winter.
Besides an Internationally-acclaimed art gallery, XVA boasts a unique art hotel, an award-winning vegetarian café, several shops, an in-house tailor and a traditional dhow.
