It narrates the tale of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the United Arab Emirates, whose timeless example continues to influence the country and its citizens to this day. The Zayed National Museum investigates the beginnings of the principles that Sheikh Zayed upheld and their enduring impact on the nation he built through its exhibits, studies, and public programs.
When is the Zayed National Museum scheduled to open?
Public access to the museum will begin on December 3, 2025. The United Arab Emirates’ official national museum will be Zayed National Museum.
What are the highlights of the museum?
The museum has one outdoor gallery, one temporary exhibition room, and six permanent galleries. This story revolves around the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Through genuine storytelling, the Our Beginning gallery illuminates the life, heritage, and principles of the UAE’s founding fathers.
Through Our Nature
Visitors can explore the UAE’s varied landscapes and learn about their historical influence on the natural environment and pace of life in the emirates at the Through Our Nature gallery.
To Our Ancestors
Evidence of 300,000 years of human activity in this region of the world, as well as early trade with other communities in the Arabian Gulf, are examined in the To Our Ancestors gallery.
Through Our Connections
The gallery called “Through Our Connections” highlights how the people of the ancient emirates expanded their horizons and how new materials, technologies, and knowledge led to the spread of Islam and the evolution of the Arabic language.
By Our Coasts
The By Our Coasts exhibition explores how pearling, fishing, and commerce helped to build the major coastal communities and how they shaped Emirati identity in addition to serving as hubs for trade and cultural interchange.
To Our Roots
By examining the traditional way of life, traditions, and social and economic practices that were prevalent in the inland regions of the emirates, the To Our Roots gallery furthers the investigation of Emirati identity.
Al Masar Garden
Al Masar Garden, which has native flora in three zones—desert, oasis, and urban—tells the tale of Sheikh Zayed through the settings that inspired him, making it an outdoor gallery.
