Holidays in United Arab Emirates in 2021 & 2022 Details:
Dubai: The official holiday calendar for the next two years has been announced.
On December 19, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, approved the official holidays calendar for government and private sectors employees for 2021 and 2022.
Here is the list of holidays that you need to be aware of.
The official holidays for the public and private sector for 2021 include:
• January 1, 2021 – New Year’s holiday.
• 29 Ramadan until 3 Shawwal 1442 – Eid Al Fitr holiday.
Earlier this year, the head of Sharjah Planetarium Ebrahim Al Jarwan, said that based on astronomical calculations, the new cres0cent moon for Ramadan will form on Monday, April 12, 2021.
“We will be able to be see the crescent moon the next day, although with some difficulty, on the evening of April 13, which signifies the start of Ramadan,” he said.
Al Jarwan pointed out that the crescent moon for the month of Shawwal will form on May 11, 2021, although it is not expected to be visible until Thursday, May 13, which will mark the first day of Eid Al Fitr.
• 9 Dhu Al Hijjah 1442-Day of Arafat
• 10-11 -12 Dhu Al-Hijjah 1442 – Eid Al Adha Holiday.
According to Al Jarwan, the Dhu Al Hijjah crescent moon is likely to form on Saturday, July 10, and the first day of Dhu Al Hijjah will fall on July 11. He added that Eid Al Adha 2021 will be observed on Tuesday, July 20.
Arafat Day is on the 9th of Dhu Al Hijja, while Eid Al Adha (Festival of Sacrifice) is celebrated by all Muslims on the 10th day of the month.
• 1 Muharram 1443 – Hijri New Year holiday (to be moved to August 12, 2021).
• 12 Rabi` Al Awwal 1443 – Prophet’s birthday holiday (to be moved to October 21, 2021).
• December 1, 2021 – Commemoration Day.
• December 2-3, 2021 – National Day holiday.
Public and private sector holidays for 2022 include:
• January 1, 2022 – New Year’s holiday.
• 29 Ramadan until 3 Shawwal 1443 – Eid Al Fitr holiday.
• 9 Dhu Al Hijjah 1443 – Day of Arafat.
• 10, 11 & 12 Dhu Al Hijjah 1443 – Eid Al Adha Holiday.
• July 30, 2022 – New Hijri Year 1444.
• October 8, 2022 – Prophet’s Birthday.
• December 1, 2022 – Commemoration Day.
• December 2 & 3, 2022 – National Day.
