Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical from the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) will come to Dubai Opera from October 3 to 12, 2023. “Matilda the Musical” is a Tony Award-winning musical based on the beloved children’s novel “Matilda” by Roald Dahl. The musical features music and lyrics by Tim Minchin and a book by Dennis Kelly. The story follows Matilda Wormwood discovers she has extraordinary powers of telekinesis. She uses this to help her teacher, Miss Honey, reclaim her stolen inheritance from Miss Trunchbull. Along the way, Matilda learns to stand up for herself and embrace her intelligence and unique qualities.
The Royal Shakespeare Company production “Matilda The Musical” was highly acclaimed, winning several Olivier Awards in 2012, including Best New Musical. The show’s success has since led to productions around the globe. It won five Tony Awards in 2013. The direction of the Musical is by Matthew Warchus, sets and costumes are by Rob Howell and the choreography is by Peter Darling.
The Musical play sold out to numerous countries and languages. The show delights audiences of all ages with its infectious music, witty lyrics, and inspiring message of empowerment and resilience.
