Dubai Taxi Fare Modifications for NYE and Main Events-Increased Fare Alert
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announces adjustments in taxi fares during events, including the upcoming New Year’s Eve celebrations. Brace yourself for a change in the minimum fares at select locations in Dubai during this time. So, plan to ensure a seamless and hassle-free travel experience.
Fare Modification Details:
- Flag Fall Increase: Dubai taxi fares typically start at AED 12. During specific events, they’ll rise to AED 20. Anticipate this increased rate at events like Expo City, World Trade Centre, and the Global Village.
- Dynamic Fare Doubling: On New Year’s Eve, from 6 pm on Sunday, December 31, 2023, to 6 am on Monday, January 1, 2024, Hala Taxi services are available at selected locations. Hosting of a fireworks display will witness a doubling of dynamic fares. At the mentioned times, the flag fall for standard taxi services will also be AED 20 at these locations.
- Road Closure Implications: These fare adjustments align with road closure plans around firework display locations during New Year’s Eve.

Enhancing Taxi Services: RTA aims to elevate regular taxi services and Hala Taxi e-hail rides during major events like New Year’s Eve. This adjustment caters to the heightened demand expected from residents, visitors, and tourists flocking to Dubai from across the globe.
