What is Dubai Expo 2020?
The UAE had bid to host the World Expo in 2020. World Expo is conducted one in 5 years for a duration of 6 moths in countries who win the bid.
In the history of the event World Expo has never been conducted in Middle East, Africa and South East Asia. This mark the importance of the awaited bid results of Dubai Expo 2020 expected on 27th November 2013. The theme for Dubai Expo 2020 is “Connecting Minds, Creating Future“.
The event which took place in China – Shanghai 2010 had reformed the city from an “industrial city” to “commercial city” portraying the theme “Better City, Better Life” to around 73 million people across the world. The next upcoming World Expo is in Italy – Milan planned in 2015 with a theme of “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life”.
Purpose of Dubai Expo 2020:
The major purpose of Dubai to host World Expo 2020 is to become the unified meeting point for the global community to discuss and decide on innovative ideas which can resolve global issues for the well being of global community that improve quality of life for world population. The country will welcome millions of visitors to participate in World Expo 2020.
Thus Dubai Expo 2020 will act as a channel to distribute the world culture, economy and social transformations there by generating important legacies for the host city and Nation.
History of World Expo:
The Great Exhibition, held in London in 1851, inaugurated World Expos as the hallmark events of a world aspiring to strengthen its connections, celebrate its cultural diversity and marvel at its technological wonders.
