Abwab, which means ‘doors’ in Arabic, supports practitioners from West, South, and East Asia, and the African continent by commissioning pavilions that are thematically remodelled each year to reflect current global and regional settings.
Urban Commissions
This year’s Urban Commissions subject, ‘Courtyard’, delves into its significance as a common urban infrastructure in local and worldwide architectural, urban planning, and public activities. Designs should consider the courtyard’s historical role as an inclusive area that promotes social interaction and community, emphasizing its importance as a primary meeting place while balancing public and private viewpoints.
Installations
Dubai Design Week invites designers, architects, collectives, creative practitioners, and design-led enterprises to submit suggestions for outdoor works to be exhibited during the 11th edition, which will take place in Dubai Design District (d3) from November 4 to 9, 2025.
Workshops
The specialized workshops programme during Dubai Design Week, which takes place at a pop-up Maker Space in Dubai Design District (d3), makes it easier to pursue, practise, and polish a variety of talents.
