This is the first time we were invited for a Pakistani / Afghani restaurant review even though we are Pakistani and been reviewing and blogging all the different cuisines across U.A.E for more than a year but now we got a chance to review Pakistani /Afghani cuisine that we are very much fond of.
We have visited BD’s Karama branch more than thrice in past that is on the Oud Mehta road opposite Lamcy Plaza and also have visited their branch in JBR (both of the visits were not sponsored). After receiving an invite to attend their new branch in Downtown for a review, we were excited and we already knew we will have good time and food for sure and yes we did.
The place is easily accessible thanks to our Google maps 🙂 paid parking is available at backside of the restaurant. The interiors were exquisite and artfully decorated, well-lighted, clean and spacious that easily can accommodate more than 200 diners at a time with comfy chairs for seating and on one of the big walls it has beautiful Urdu writings from Pakistan. They have a small area for kids to spend and enjoy their time, a good relief for families Kudus to this idea! Our servers were ever smiling and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable even the restaurant manager himself explained few dishes that were new to us.
To begin with we were served a cold Arabic mezze that had mixed vegetable topped with sweet savory sauce and crisp chips, small portion of Tabbouleh, Fattoush and Hummus and much to our expectation the Hummus tasted so good same as we get in any authentic Arabic restaurant, it was so good that we ordered a full plate of just Hummus 😉
With that we enjoyed our refreshing drinks, I ordered Mango shake and my other half ordered Kiwi juice, great drinks to have in summer.
As we were enjoying and sipping our drinks, main course was served and we were astounded to see so much of variety dishes they had to offer to please every palate almost all made to perfection 🙂
Special Afghani Mix Grill Platter – Grills are impeccable and very delicious over here, like the Mutton Chello Kebab, Tiger Prawns & Chicken Achari Tikka. All the kebab lovers out there, this is the platter that will satisfy all your kebabs craving! The kebabs were accompanied with mint chutney, plum sauce and tamarind chutney.
Chicken Karahi – had excellent thick gravy with contrasting flavors and textures, in creamy tomato sauce, garnished with flaked ginger. It tasted really good.
Palak Paneer – this was one of the best palak paneer we had till date. The palak was perfectly cooked and tasted so delicious and paneer just melted in your mouth.
Lamb Mantu – was something new we tried it is similar to dumplings but Afghani dumplings served in plate filled with yoghurt. The lamb mantu (afghani dumplings) had meat filling inside and it. Highly recommended by us!
We ate all with the famous Afghani naan which was XXL size, way too soft and delicious!
Last but not the least—the desserts! No matter how full we are, we make some space for our sweet tooth. They have splendid selection of desserts, we tried Kulfi Falooda and Shahi Tukray they were yummy and a royal treat to us, helping us gaining few pounds 😉
Well, it was an experience to remember not only because of the food but also the service provided. Barbecue Delights have always been one of the top restaurants for our desi food cravings. It’s definitely a steal and we highly recommend this place for a visit with friends and family!
