BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham is the largest Hindu temple in the United States, which is going to open its doors for the public on 8th October 2023 at Robbinsville, New Jersey. The 183-acre temple took over years to build and required over 12,500 people from around the United States. The temple, possibly the second largest after Angkor Wat in Cambodia, is a UNESCO World Heritage site spanning 500 acres.

Where did the temple’s design come from?
Indian traditional architecture was used in the construction of the Swaminarayan Akshardham temple in the US. Over 10,000 sculptures and carvings within the shrine depict Indian musical instruments and dancing forms. In addition to the main shrine, the temple also has 12 sub-shrines, nine shikhars (spire-like structures), and nine pyramidal shikhars. Additionally, the round dome is the largest in a traditional stone structure.

Monday to Friday: Open from 10:00 am – 4:30 pm till September 29, 2023
Saturday & Sunday: Closed till October 15, 2023
The campus will also be closed on September 4 (Labor Day) and from September 30 to October 15.
What are the things that should be taken care of while visiting the temple?
- Please be aware that the complex has an accurate dress code.
- Before visiting any of the Mandir structures, please take off all shoes. There are shoe racks available at the facility.
- All buildings have strong rules against photography and videography.
- No food or drinks are allowed inside the Mandir premises.
- Before entering the building, turn off all mobile devices.
- Smoking is not allowed on the premises.
- Respect the intricate carvings by not touching them.
- Pets are not allowed inside the Mandir.

By Train
Take the Northeast Corridor (NEC) Rail Line to Princeton Junction Station from New York Penn Station.
Then follow the Northeast Corridor (NEC) Rail Line to Princeton Junction Station from Newark Penn Station.
Take the AirTrain from the Newark Airport to the Newark Airport Rail Station. From there, go to Princeton Junction Station on the Northeast Corridor (NEC) Rail Line.
Take the Northeast Corridor (NEC) Rail Line to Hamilton Station from the Trenton Transit Centre.
By Bus
Take the Coach USA (Suburban Transit) Line 300 Bus to the Hightstown, NJ stop from the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York (gates 415 or 416).
