This majestic Opera Gala commemorates the 125th anniversary of Giuseppe Verdi’s death and features the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra under the brilliant leadership of Giacomo Sagripanti, acclaimed soprano Maria Agresta, and outstanding tenor Giorgio Berrugi.
The program takes viewers through Verdi’s most famous works, from the grandeur of Nabucco and I Vespri Siciliani to the passion of Otello and La Traviata.

Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra (QPO)
Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser formed the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra in 2007. It is a well-known cultural institution that promotes Qatar internationally. QPO, which comprises 78 musicians from 28 countries, is renowned for its innovative programming that seamlessly blends Western symphonic traditions with Arab musical heritage.
Giacomo Sagripanti, Conductor
Giacomo Sagripanti, Music Director of the Tbilisi State Opera, is one of the most distinguished conductors of his generation, winning Best Young Conductor at the 2016 International Opera Awards. He has conducted in some of the world’s most prestigious opera houses, including the Opéra de Paris, Royal Opera House Covent Garden.
Maria Agresta, Soprano
Maria Agresta, an Italian soprano, began her international career in 2007 and had huge success in 2011 with I vespri siciliani in Turin. She has since featured in the world’s most famous opera venues, including La Scala, the Metropolitan Opera, Covent Garden, and the Opéra de Paris, in key roles by Verdi, Puccini, Donizetti, and Bellini.
Giorgio Berrugi, Tenor
Giorgio Berrugi, a renowned Italian tenor lauded by Plácido Domingo, is known for his rich tone and passionate talent. He has played at prominent venues like as La Scala, the Royal Opera House, the Vienna State Opera, and the Metropolitan Opera, partnering with today’s best conductors.
