When does Ramadan 2026 begin?

Ramadan 2026 is expected to begin on February 19, 2026, following the traditional crescent moon sighting on the 29th day of Sha’ban. If the moon is not visible, Ramadan may start a day later on February 20. The month is expected to last 30 days, ending on March 19, with Eid al-Fitr on March 20, 2026.

Why is fasting important during Ramadan?

Ramadan is one of Islam’s five pillars. The Five Pillars of Islam are Shahada, the declaration of belief in the one true God. Salah: Five times daily prayer, facing Makkah, including ablution before prayer. Zakat is charity or giving to the poor; Haj is a pilgrimage to Makkah at least once in one’s lifetime; and Sawm is Ramadan fasting.

When is Eid Al Fitr 2026?

The end of Ramadan ushers in Eid Al Fitr, a festival commemorating the end of fasting. Eid Al Fitr 2026 is expected to take place in the UAE from the evening of Thursday, March 19, to Friday, March 20, kicking off the country’s first long weekend of the year.

Dubai and Abu Dhabi prayer timings

According to the current schedules, the start of Fajr prayers in Dubai in the early days of Ramadan is expected to be around 05:32-05:34 am, followed by Maghrib and Iftar around 06:15-06:20 pm, with the timing shifting gradually throughout the month. Similar small differences can be seen in Abu Dhabi, with Fajr around 05:37 am and Maghrib around 06:20pm on comparable days.
