How is Ramadan observed?

Ramadan is a month of introspection and spiritual reflection for Muslims. During the Holy month, observant Muslims fast from dawn until sunset. The day starts with a pre-dawn meal, called Sehri(Suhoor), before the first prayer of the day, Fajr. After the sun sets, Muslims break their fast with an Iftar meal, which begins with dates and water, followed by a more substantial meal. Many Muslims also gather at the mosque for the Taraweeh prayer after the Isha prayer during Ramadan. Taraweeh prayer is a special congregational prayer that can last up to two hours and consists of reciting a part of the Quran each night. These practices help Muslims cultivate greater self-discipline and empathy towards those who are less fortunate and to focus on their spiritual connection with Allah.

What is Sehri(Suhoor) and Iftar?

Iftar and Sehr are two important meals associated with Ramadan in the Islamic faith. Sehr is a pre-dawn meal that Muslims eat before the start of their daily fast, which usually begins at sunrise. This meal is typically eaten early in the morning, before the first prayer of the day, Fajr, and provides sustenance throughout the day while fasting.

Iftar is the meal Muslims eat at the end of their fast, after sunset, and just after the Maghrib prayer. This meal is a celebration of breaking the fast and is often a time for families and communities to come together and enjoy a variety of traditional dishes.
