We have been to Masala Pot which is located in old skirts of Dubai in Meena Bazaar, Bur Dubai. Recently their new branch opened in Business Bay and we were invited for tasting review by the lovely Palak Mody.
To begin with the area it’s located at Building 11, Bay Square in Business Bay-Dubai never been there quite new to us, it’s a nice place to hang out not so in this hot weather but in winters.
We have on and off tried Urban Indian Cuisine and this one just another one until we stepped into this place and tried their food.
The restaurant has cool black and orange interiors with cheeky English – Hindi quotes one being ‘Enjoy Life Tadka Maarke’ and walls are covered with newspaper cuttings. Now just cut the case and come to food for what we were here for.
The first thing that was served was the veg starter that had cucumber, tomato, onion and papad with chutney sauce perfectly presented. With that two different drinks were given and both of them were tasteless and horrible no taste at all one sip and that was it, but they had Pan Lemonade that is a hit in their place will try it next time.
The second starter we had was Masala Pot’s non veg mixed platter with generous serving of chicken, meat and fish tikka. Everything on this platter tasted deliciously good and each bite was soft, moist and flavorful.
Now to the mains, we had Butter chicken and Paneer tikka masala a spicy-sweet gravy with capsicum and tomato base with chunks of marinated cottage cheese. We heard a lot about their butter chicken and now was the time to taste and give our verdict, with this we ordered plain naan and butter naan and OMG the butter chicken was a show stealer it was just finger licking, it had thick creamy consistency with the hint of sweetness but not overpowering the gravy it was over the top. Even the Kadhai paneer was one of the best one we had till now all it had everything cooked at the right level and tasted really delicious, my partner thou like Kadhai paneer more than Butter chicken but for me it was opposite.
Then came the Chicken biryani served in mason jar totally unique we have heard or seen, accompanied by raita (cucumber and yoghurt), gravy and a mint lassi (yoghurt) drink. Loved the lassi it was cool minty and refreshing. The aroma of Chicken biryani as soon as you open the jar takes you to another level, enjoyed the flavorful chatpatti biryani it was delicious.
Then came our favorite part of eating out ‘DESSERT’ yes and this was Gulab Jamun presented it soo well as you can see in the picture below it was yummylicious and the sweet syrup they give separately which you can add as much as you can and we added all hihi and to end all there was Karak chai (tea) served in a steel holder first we thought as you can see in the picture all these chai is for two of us haha but that’s how they present :p The chai was good but too super Karak for us.
Overall we enjoyed everything that was served for tasting except the drinks, the ambiance, the service was exceptionally good. They have buffet also available on some days, you can get more information about it by contacting them, the details are below and guess what parking is also available in the basement of the building.
At the end we were given a thank you token for visiting in the form of cute hand written card and a sweet rasgullah. A hearty thank you to Palak Mody for inviting us.
