Grand Barbeque Buffet Restaurant, Dubai – Review
Every year in Ramadan, we plan Iftari get together with close friends and after seeing many options and reading reviews on zomato with ratings of 4.3, we decided to hit Grand Barbeque and astonishingly we were amazed.
The place is easily accessible and has plenty of parking options, just a quick tip if you park in front of the restaurant the new parking tariff applies that is 4 dhs per hour, if you park backside it’s 2 dhs. You need to book way ahead because they are almost full every day specially in Ramadan as that’s what we noticed, the day we went being a weekday the tables were brimming with diners, the staff were ever smiling and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable.
Located right across the Ramada Jumeirah hotel this restaurant is brightly lit – you can’t miss it. The interiors are well-lighted, clean and spacious the amount of space that this buffet place holds inside the conservative facade is amazing. The interiors were exquisite and there was plenty of seating arrangements which can accommodate more than 200 diners at a time with comfy chairs for seating.
We were total of 20+ people and they arranged a private cabin that is very rare in restaurants in Dubai. I can literally count the number of buffet restaurants that still have private seatings and we were completely impressed by the privacy setup and the service provided. They not only brought us starters inside they served the main dishes as well, the reason being as the place was crowded so the counters got jam packed and we had ladies with us so they served items inside..Kudos for that!
From the Salad/ Condiments isle you name it and it was there from Hummus my favorite to Moutabal, Raita, Corn Salad, Pineapple Salad, Plain curd, Tabbouleh, Fresh Green Salad, Coleslaw, Red Cabbage to name a few. Do try the Pineapple Salad it was something that we never tried before and it was big chunks of fresh pineapple with chilli dressing.
Moving on, there were two soup options: veg and non-veg (Chicken Manchow) and (Pepper Corriander). For starters, we tried channa chat it was spicy and tangy and mini samoosa’s and then they served boti on roti we liked this name 😉 it was a perfect bite size starter that was small boti kababs on the small roti that some something innovative and cute but the star of the starters were Dimsums that also were available in two choices veg and non-veg, it was so good and perfect with a spicy sauce to accompany it. As we thought we were done with starters in came chili garlic prawns that everyone sitting on the table loved.
After having good amount of starters we jumped into main course and we were astounded to see so much of variety dishes they had to offer to please every palate almost all made to perfection 🙂
To name a few that we tried and tasted:
- Hot Garlic Fish,
- Tandoori Chicken,
- Ajwaini Fish Tikka,
- Haryali Chicken,
- Chilly Chicken,
- Paya,
- Lamb Kebabs,
- Butter Chicken
- Mutton and Chicken Biryani
- Singapore Chilli Crab
All the main dishes were so good to be true, the paya was really nice and the grill items like tikka and kebabs were juicy and tasty. The Singaporean chilli crab was something that we never expected to be in a buffet at that price point and it almost tasted the same you will find in Singapore, it was really good, soft and well cooked especially the sauce\ gravy was mouth watering.
They have 2 live stations:
Chaat Counter: the chaat counter had different roadside delicacies from pani puri, dahi puri, sev puri and bhel puri that were served in cute mini plate with a serving of three per plate. We tried dhai puri and pani puri and guess what pani puri comes alongside mini glass with khatti chutney.
Pasta Counter: the pasta counter served i think 3 kinds with veggies or chicken, seasonings with white or red sauces and not to forget the cheese. The pasta section lacked that italian touch but worth a try!
Last but not the least—the desserts! No matter how full we are, we make some space for our sweet tooth. They have splendid selection of desserts, we tried mini gulab jamuns they were yummy, the cappuccino dessert was yum giving strong coffee taste with perfect sweetness, the chocolate cake was moist and tasty and the famous chocolate fountain with marshmallows was a chocolate wafers was a hit among all of us. A wide range of irresistible ice creams with selective flavors such as Vanilla, Chocolate and Strawberry is also available that adds a special touch to any dessert section.
They also have a good variety of drinks which includes fresh juices, sodas and even mango lassi. We ordered a freshly squeezed Orange Juice and Watermelon Juice, and it was fresh and was so very refreshing.
And we ended our buffet with a Karak Chai gaining few pounds 😉
Last but not least, i will like to commend Mr H Gani MD of Grand Barbeque restaurant who took good care of us and provided the warm hospitality, personally while talking to him i found him a very humble and down to earth person.
