General Women’s Union – Dubai

General Women’s Union includes six women associations and their several branches in the various areas of the State. These societies are communicating with each other to designate the broad lines of women activity in the State, within the essential policy of the General Women’s Union.

Dubai Women’s Development Society

The society has been established in 1974 and it is chaired by Sheikha Amina Al Tayer. It is a public benefit foundation working carefully and honestly through the principle of effective management as the optimal means of developing women community in all grades and segments. The society has two branches namely; Al Khawanig and Hata.

Sharjah Women’s Development Society

The society has been established in 1973 and it is chaired by Sheikha Noura Al Qasmi. It is working through eight committees covering all areas of women activities in the United Arab Emirates and it seeks in steady steps to provide a better future for women. The activities of the society helped crystallize the concept and perspective of the community towards the important role of women as an effective member in the community.

Umm Al Mo’menin Women’s Society in Ajman

The society has been established in 1974 and it is currently chaired by H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Zayed. Since its foundation, the society has sought to realize the aspirations and prospects of women, and provide necessary services for them. So, it is holding regular courses in computer, English language and handicrafts, and the society also hosts summer activities of female students and opens the field for them to exercise sports and various cultural activities in holidays.

Umm Al Quwain Women Society

The society has been established in 1973 and it is chaired by H.H. Sheikha Mariam Al Mulla. It concentrates on promotion of women socially and academically, and increase of their awareness. It is the first women society publishing a special magazine called “New Age Magazine”.

Ras Al Khaima Women’s Development Society

The society has been established in 1976 and notarized in 1979. It is chaired by Sheikha Mouhra Al Qasmi. The society has performed various activities; most notably the project of adult illiteracy eradication which is the first of its kind in the State, and it continues its efforts to promote women intellectually, culturally and socially.
